What is a Happy Teacher Revolution “Revolutionary”?
A “Revolutionary” is an education professional who initiates, leads, and facilitates Happy Teacher Revolution meetings. They have completed the online Happy Teacher Revolutionary Certification course found here.
I’m not ready to lead meetings yet, how can I go to a meeting?
We host quarterly meetings on zoom since the pandemic but the best way to get started is to share our resources with your school and see if someone in your community or district wants to lead meetings! Or email us at [email protected] and we can reach out to your school for you!
What does your platform give teachers that other platforms don't?
Our platform gives individuals and districts the opportunity to train online in a self-paced asynchronous manner to learn how to initiate and lead Happy Teacher Revolution meetings in their own communities. Our platform also is data driven and research based, and we are the proud winners of the 2019 Johns Hopkins Social Innovation Lab. We utilize the human-centered design thinking process in our training to help support our Revolutionaries to create differentiated communities of support. We also have expanded to offer a mentors program with updated content around the well-being research process based on the work of Dr. Carol Ryff and the Ryff Scale of Well-Being in order to help educators not just survive in their roles, but truly thrive.
How many people use Happy Teacher Revolution?
We have grown to certify and train over 500 Revolutionaries in over 32 states across the United States. We also have trained Revolutionaries globally in Canada, Senegal, Kuwait, Nigeria, China and Brazil!
How was Happy Teacher Revolution started?
Danna Thomas started Happy Teacher Revolution after experiencing firsthand as both a student and later as a teacher in Baltimore City why supporting the mental health and well-being of educators is a necessary practice to support students. Happy Teacher Revolution was born after realizing how desperately teachers crave authentic human connection and support when it comes to their own SEL needs.
Why is Happy Teacher Revolution needed?

I heard Danna speak at an event/webinar/podcast recently, does she give keynote presentations?
Yes! Danna is available for keynotes here, and we also have a menu of professional development options. To speak with someone on our team about how we can support your professional development, contact us here.
How do I find a meeting in my community?
To maintain the safety of the spaces that our Revolutionaries are committed to creating and supporting for their own unique communities, we cannot publicize meetings. What's special about Happy Teacher Revolution and the research and data behind the program is to have teachers and admin create space in their own communities for meetings. However, Happy Teacher Revolution leads quarterly free Zoom meetings to give an example of what these meetings could look like in your school. To find out how you can lead and launch meetings, look here. To learn more about our quarterly HTR Meetings, sign up for our newsletter here!
Is Happy Teacher Revolution a space for you not to do your professional responsibilities?
No it is not. While, we encourage you to enact boundaries and say "no", Happy Teacher Revolution does not advocate for abandoning your contracted responsibilities. We provide support around creating both personal and professional sustainability through a community care lens. Our objective is to support the well-being of education professionals as a trauma informed practice. We help provide the structure, curriculum, and guidance through our Revolutionary Certification Course to guide individuals in their community to co-create a differentiated professional space through a Human Centered Design research process inspired by our collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Social Innovation Lab.
